I am a software engineer that is passionate about building effective teams, productive processes, and positive team environments. The rest of my skills are utilized to achieve those goals.

About Me

I originally planned to be an accountant, and lasted 1 year at university before needing to find another major. I was voted "most likely to be 1337" in high school, so switching to Computer Science to make games was made after I got an A in CS 101.

When diving into game development, I quickly found my strengths to be in bridging the gaps between disciplines and communicating with people from different backgrounds. Solving the various problems that people can come up with are what motivated me to continuing learning technology and figuring out creative ways to service my teammates.

  • High recruitment standards. I aim to conduct the interview process with the focus of creating a supportive environment and how the candidates responds to being questioned outside their knowledge base
  • Chosen by team to be interim Lead Tools Programmer in North America for over 1 year at Rockstar Games when not the most senior developer

Outreach

  • Co-Founder of Real Talks: a non-profit organization that did outreach to young professionals to give real-world work experience and an environment to ask questions to fellow young professionals.
  • Founder of Money Talks: a community based on making personal finance approachable topics to young professionals. The goal of getting members more engaged by becoming comfortable with talking about various finance topics.
  • Began University Relations recruitment at Rockstar San Diego. This program grew within 1 year to include getting support from recruiters as well as traveling to more events.

Dedication and Adversity

  • NCAA D1 varsity 400m hurdler
  • Split my right kneecap in half in December 2014. Split again during rehabilitation February 2015.
  • Recovered to the point of competing in casual strength lifting competitions and competing in nationally ranked volleyball tournaments.

Scrapyard is a 2.5D party fighting game that focuses on custom unique characters with common modifiers to allow players to create their own playstyle and level events that help to focus gameplay.

Highlights of Contributions

  • HitBox Tool that allows designers to define per-frame hitbox data
  • Gameplay polish with Animations
  • Gameplay ownership of "Finisher" moves
  • Gameplay ownership for taunts and original authoring of taunt animations
  • Owned all of the pipeline for developer environment setup, defining an asset creation process, and ingesting them into the game

Highlights of Contributions

  • Exposed the game data to our internal game data API that hosts data for internal partners including our web team, customer service team, and quality assurance team. This included Jenkins automation, so the system had 0 programmer support.
  • Added telemetry tracking to tool suite to allow visibility on which tools are being used. This used a tech stack that included Grafana for the visualizations.
